One Man and his Mutt

Hello people,

Well after the excitement which was last week post courtesy of, John Rambo, I thought a more relaxed post would be in order this week!

Whilst visiting the parents recently I took the opportunity to take the family pet out for a walk. The family pet goes by the name of Benjamin Halstead, or Ben to his chums and he is a Border Collie flavour mutt. I must admit Ben is a great dog to be around and he’s incredibly obedient so I thought he would make a great photography subject.

One major problem that I had was getting him to keep still. For those of you who don’t know, some of my photography uses a process which blends together various photos of a scene into a composite or High Dynamic Range (HDR) photo. To be able to do this each photo in the composite has to be identical for the effect to work. Try telling that to an excited dog that wont sit still!

I did try and weigh him down with a few rocks tied to his collar but he wasn’t having any of it so I had to take desperate measures. After a bit of research on the web I came across this company, who specialise in stuffed animals.

Problem solved:

Ok, ok, I’m only pulling your leg, I didn’t really call upon the services of a taxidermist, and the business regarding the rocks was also a joke, the dog in the above shot really is Ben! He was great to shoot so don’t be surprised to see him appear in the blog again!

Until next week!

  3. You’re welcome. I must admit I was glad to know the thing about putting rocks on his collar to make him be still was not true. I DO hope he will appear in the blog again!
